Emil Mkrttchian knew that he wanted to be a part of the magic world of film when he saw the light from a projector hit the screen for the first time in an old theater in Charentsavan, Armenia.
He was 7 years old and a few years later the dream became reality when he moved to Mora in Sweden and got acces to a dusty film camera.
A few years later he got his film education at Stockholm Filmschool, Fridhems film line and Manuspiloterna. Emil has a background of producing, screenwriting, d.o.p. and last but obviously not least directing.
That is where his true talent lies, and what he has been awarded and noticed for internationally. He has his own style inspired by Georges Méliès, Sergio Leone, Wong Kar-Wai, Andrej Tarkovskij and Akira Kurosawa.
It is magical, warm, dreamy, imaginative and has a twist of humour. With visual strength he takes stories about the weak and the loving and brings them forward.
